Payment Customization
Payment customization lets you control how payment methods appear at checkout. Hide methods that shouldn’t be available for certain customers or orders, rename methods for clarity, or reorder them to prioritize preferred options.
Rule Types
Section titled “Rule Types”Rename
Section titled “Rename”Change the display name of a payment method. The payment gateway remains the same — only the label changes.
Example: Show “Pay with Credit Card (Secure)” instead of “Credit Card.”
Reorder
Section titled “Reorder”Change the sort order of payment methods to prioritize your preferred options.
Example: Move “Shop Pay” to the top of the list for all customers.
Remove a payment method from checkout. Customers won’t see or be able to select it.
Example: Hide “Cash on Delivery” for international orders.
Method Selection
Section titled “Method Selection”Select which payment method to target using name matching:

Setting Up Payment Customization
Section titled “Setting Up Payment Customization”Step 1: Create a New Campaign
Section titled “Step 1: Create a New Campaign”- Open PowerX from your Shopify admin.
- Click Create Campaign.
- Select Payment Customization as the function type.
- Name your campaign (e.g., “Hide COD for International”).
Step 2: Choose the Rule Type
Section titled “Step 2: Choose the Rule Type”Select one of:
- Rename — enter the new display name.
- Reorder — set the sort position.
- Hide — no additional configuration needed.
Step 3: Select the Payment Method
Section titled “Step 3: Select the Payment Method”Use name matching to target the payment method:
- Enter the payment method name or keyword.
- Choose the match type (exact, contains, starts with, etc.).
Step 4: Add Conditions
Section titled “Step 4: Add Conditions”Add cart qualifiers or customer qualifiers:
- Cart subtotal or quantity thresholds
- Customer tags (e.g., “B2B,” “wholesale”)
- Customer email or login status
- Market or language targeting
Step 5: Activate
Section titled “Step 5: Activate”Review and toggle to Active.
Common Use Cases

- Method: Name matches “Cash on Delivery”
- Cart qualifier: Market is not “Domestic”
Hide PayPal for B2B Customers

- Method: Name contains “PayPal”
- Customer qualifier: Tag matches “B2B” or “wholesale”
Rename Payment Method for Clarity
Section titled “Rename Payment Method for Clarity”- Rule: Rename
- Method: Name matches “Credit Card”
- New name: “Pay with Credit Card (Secure)“
Hide Bank Transfer for Small Orders
Section titled “Hide Bank Transfer for Small Orders”- Rule: Hide
- Method: Name contains “Bank Transfer”
- Cart qualifier: Subtotal < $50
Troubleshooting
Section titled “Troubleshooting”Payment method still showing after hiding?
- Verify the campaign is Active.
- Check that the payment method name in your rule matches the actual name in Shopify’s payment settings.
- Ensure the cart/customer conditions are all met.
Wrong method hidden?
- Review the name matching — “contains” will match any method with that keyword in the name.
- Use exact match (“match one of”) for precise targeting.
